November Update

November Update

The course closed for play on 4th November this season. Since then we have been busy preparing the course for the winter and have several projects on the go.

We decided to do a trial this winter using covers on 3 of our greens. This involves using a combination of growth sheets (duk), air tubes so we can pump air into the green, and finally an impermeable plastic sheet on top.  The idea behind this is to prevent ice damage, which is our biggest concern when it comes to winter kill.  Some clubs in Sweden have had good success with this system over the years. There is unfortunately no guarantee of success when using covers, but we always need to try to find the best solution to reduce winter damage. We're looking forward to seeing the results in the spring.

Due to a dry summer and having big problems with water shortage, it is necessary to secure a bigger water reserve on the course. We are in the process of cleaning up and expanding the pond that goes around green 2. Not only will this give us an upgraded look and a better playing experience, it will also increase our water capacity by around 50%.

We have also been working on a turf nursery, located between green 9 and the 6th tees. This will give us our own reserve of greens turf for patching and repairing damages.  We will complete this in the spring.

And finally, we have removed the sand and re-drained the remaining 11 bunkers in our renovation plans. The bunkers will be ready for play towards the start of next season.

I would like to take this chance to thank everyone for the season that's been and look forward to welcoming everyone back next year.

Best regards
