Spring Update

Spring Update

We have been getting some nice spring weather of late and the snow is starting to disapear from the course.

In the last week, we have been busy removing the snow from the greens. All greens are free from snow and ice, out with 2 greens that we are trialing winter covers on.

At the moment, the greens look in good shape and are holding a nice green colour. We have covered the greens using growth sheets to give them a little protection from the wind and to prevent them from drying out too much. There is still a danger that poor weather can cause us problems and it will be a while before we see decent soil temperatures, so we will need to keep a close eye on things.

I mentioned in a previous blog that we were trialing 3 greens with covers over the winter. The cover from green 4 has been removed and looks to be doing fine. The other two on greens 7 and 8 are being checked regularly and will be removed by the weekend.

Snow is being cleared from the tees at the moment and we will start to dress fairways with sand to speed up the melting process when conditions allow.
